About

Brinkburn Priory is a former monastery built, starting in the 12th century, on a bend of the River Coquet, about 4 miles (6 km) east of Rothbury, Northumberland, England.

Founded by William Bertram, Baron of Mitford, during the reign of Henry I (before 1135) as an Augustinian priory. The church survived the dissolution because it also served as a parish church. After centuries of decline, it was beautifully restored in the 19th century. Grade I listed, managed by English Heritage.
