Dornoch Castle
📍 Highland, Scotland
About
Dornoch Castle is situated opposite Dornoch Cathedral in the town of Dornoch, Scotland.
Originally built in the 15th century as the palace of the Bishops of Caithness, adjacent to Dornoch Cathedral. Damaged during clan feuds between the Murrays and Mackays. Rebuilt and extended over the centuries. Converted into a hotel in the 20th century — now the Dornoch Castle Hotel. The town is famous for its cathedral, golf links, and being the last place in Scotland where a witch was burned (1727).
