Hellens Manor
📍 Herefordshire, England
About
Hellens Manor is a historic house located in the village of Much Marcle in Herefordshire, England. It is one of the oldest dwellings in England, being composed primarily of Tudor, Jacobean and Georgian architecture but with foundations dating from the 12th century.
Parts date from the 13th century, making it one of England's oldest continuously occupied homes. The Walwyn family has held it for generations. Features include a priest hole used during the Reformation, and the 'haunted chamber' allegedly sealed since the 17th century. The Tudor great hall retains original features. Open for guided tours. Much Marcle, the village, was the site of a catastrophic landslip in 1571.
