About

Kellie Castle is a castle just outside Arncroach and below the dominant hill in the area, Kellie Law. It is about 4 kilometres north of Pittenweem in the East Neuk of Fife, Scotland.

First recorded in a 1150 charter of King David I, Kellie passed through the Siward and Oliphant families before being purchased in 1613 by Sir Thomas Erskine, who saved King James VI during the Gowrie Conspiracy. The Erskine Earls of Kellie held it until the late 19th century when Professor James Lorimer leased the neglected castle and began restoration. Now managed by the National Trust for Scotland.
