About

Kimbolton Castle is a country house in Kimbolton, Cambridgeshire, England. It was the final home of King Henry VIII's first wife, Catherine of Aragon. Originally a medieval castle but converted into a stately palace, it was the family seat of the Earls and Dukes of Manchester from 1615 until 1950. It now houses Kimbolton School.

Originally a medieval castle, it became the prison-in-all-but-name of Catherine of Aragon, who arrived in May 1534 and died here on 7 January 1536. Remodelled by Sir John Vanbrugh and Nicholas Hawksmoor in the early 18th century for the Dukes of Manchester. Giovanni Antonio Pellegrini painted the spectacular ceiling murals. The Montagus held it until 1950; now Kimbolton School. Open to visitors on select days.
