Markenfield Hall
📍 Yorkshire, England
About
Markenfield Hall is an early 14th-century moated manor house about 3 miles (5 km) south of Ripon, North Yorkshire, England. It is in the civil parish of Markenfield Hall.
Built c.1310 by John de Markenfield, Chancellor to Edward II. The moated manor house is one of the finest and most complete examples of a small 14th-century fortified house in England. The Markenfield family lost it after the Rising of the North in 1569. The great hall, chapel, and domestic ranges survive with remarkably intact medieval fabric. Open to visitors on select days.
