Rosyth Castle
📍 Fife, Scotland
About
Rosyth Castle is a fifteenth-century ruined tower house on the perimeter of Rosyth Naval Dockyard, Fife, Scotland.
Built in the 15th century, probably by the Stewart family. Mary Queen of Scots is said to have stayed here as a child before sailing to France. The castle originally stood on a tidal island in the Firth of Forth but land reclamation for the Rosyth naval dockyard in 1909 left it landlocked. Now surrounded by industrial buildings, creating an incongruous setting.
