Towie Barclay Castle is a historic castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, 4.5 miles south-south-east of Turriff. The current structure, which was built by Clan Barclay in 1593, is a Category A listed building.
Built in 1593 by the Barclay family, replacing an earlier castle on the site. The great hall features an extraordinary ribbed vault ceiling, unique in Scottish domestic architecture. The castle fell into ruin in the 19th century but was lovingly restored from 1970 by Marc Ellington. The restoration is considered one of the finest in Scotland. Private residence with occasional openings.
