Founded c.1135 as a Benedictine priory for nuns. After the Dissolution, the site was converted into a private house, incorporating parts of the medieval priory. The medieval chapel and undercroft survive within the later building. The estate was substantially rebuilt in the 19th century. Now operates as a hotel and wedding venue within the historic grounds.
