Built around 1300, this Norman castle near Bagenalstown, County Carlow is a National Monument. Features a twin-towered gatehouse, hall and corner tower foundations. The walls reach up to 50 feet high and 5 feet thick. Remarkably, nothing is recorded of its early history, though its features are typical of 13th-century construction.
