About

Barclodiad y Gawres is a Neolithic burial chamber between Rhosneigr and Aberffraw on the south-western coast of the island of Anglesey in North Wales. It is an example of a cruciform passage grave, a notable feature being its decorated stones. Similar graves and marks exist across the Irish Sea in the Boyne Valley.

A Neolithic passage grave on the west coast of Anglesey dating to c.3000 BC. One of only two passage graves in Wales with decorated stones (the other being Bryn Celli Ddu). The interior stones bear carved spirals, zigzags, and chevrons similar to those at Newgrange in Ireland. Excavations in the 1950s found a cremation deposit. The tomb was reconstructed with a concrete dome. Access by key from nearby café.
