Clondalkin Round Tower
📍 County Dublin, Ireland
About
Clondalkin Round Tower is an Irish round tower located in Clondalkin, South Dublin, Ireland. Located on the site of a monastery founded by Saint Mochua, the tower is protected as a national monument. As of December 2024, the tower's visitor centre was reportedly closed 'until further notice'.
The Clondalkin Round Tower in south Dublin is one of the best-preserved round towers in Ireland, standing 28 metres tall with its original conical cap intact. The tower dates to the 7th-8th century and marks the site of an important early Christian monastery. Its survival amid the modern suburb of Clondalkin makes it a striking anachronism.
