About
Corsewall Lighthouse is a lighthouse at Corsewall Point, Kirkcolm near Stranraer in the region of Dumfries and Galloway in Scotland. First lit in 1817, it overlooks the North Channel of the Irish Sea.
Built in 1815 by Robert Stevenson (grandfather of Robert Louis Stevenson) for the Northern Lighthouse Board. One of the first lighthouses built on the mainland Scottish coast. The tower and keepers' cottages have been converted into a hotel and restaurant. The light is still operational. Located on the Rhins of Galloway with views across the Irish Sea to Belfast and the Isle of Man.
