Dingwall Castle
📍 Highland, Scotland
About
Dingwall Castle was a medieval fort and royal castle in the town of Dingwall, eastern Ross-shire, Scotland.
A medieval royal castle, probably dating from the 12th century when Dingwall was an important centre of Norse-Scottish power in Easter Ross. Associated with Macbeth, who may have been born here. The castle was largely demolished, with only a tower stump surviving near the town centre. Dingwall itself was the birthplace of the real Macbeth and retains some historic character.
