Moy Castle
📍 Argyll and Bute, Scotland
About
Moy Castle is a ruined castle near Lochbuie on the Isle of Mull, Scotland. The site is now a scheduled monument.
Built in the 15th century by the MacLaine chiefs of Lochbuie. The tower stands three storeys high with a notorious bottle dungeon — a pit prison from which there was no escape. The castle controlled access to Lochbuie's natural harbour. Abandoned when the family built a new house nearby in the 18th century. The surrounding landscape is stunningly remote with standing stones and a beautiful bay.
