About
Blairfindy Castle is an L-plan tower house, dating from the 16th century, around 6.5 miles (10.5 km) north of Tomintoul, and west of the River Livet. The tower was a hunting seat of the earls of Huntly.
Built around 1586 by the Gordon family. An L-plan tower house that was burned by Jacobite forces in 1689. The ruins stand in a field near the Glenlivet Distillery in the heart of Speyside. The castle offers atmospheric ruins in a beautiful Highland setting, easily combined with a whisky distillery visit.
